The Big List is Done

Yesterday I finished the last of my organization projects.... the last on my "before Nathan arrives" list. I went to the office to wipe it off my whiteboard (yes, I'm that nerdy) for some instant gratification, and then I kind of freaked out a little. Ryan walked by and I told him "I'm done with my list! What do I do now?" He told me to sit down. Sit down? Is that really possible? I'm about 33 weeks pregnant and the nesting instinct is so intense right now that I'm about ready to go reorganize the kitchen pantry and cupboards even though they are absolutely fine how they are. For the last, oh 18 weeks or so Lucas and I have been working on all kinds of random household projects together. We spend most afternoons going through things, cleaning, sorting, and organizing. What are we going to do with our afternoons now? I guess we are just going to play!

Nathan's room is almost done. We just have to get a few things on the walls and get the babyproofing done. There's a few things in the attic still to come down, a few things to wash and put back together, but for the most part.... it's ready for his arrival.

Still, I feel just a bit unsettled. I need to come up with more projects! Everything left involves sitting..... yes... SITTING! At my computer, at the desk, at the table, you get the idea. So, I guess for the next 4-7 weeks I will be doing filing, scrapbooking, blogging, menu planning, reading, and twiddling my thumbs while I wait for this little monkey to arrive.

  1. You've probably already thought of this (and I think you should just relax!!!) but if you REALLY need something to do, maybe you could make a bunch of food that you can freeze, easy stuff like vege soup, taco soup, etc. I think your mom does this too, but I like to freeze that kind of stuff in big ziploc bags and lay them flat, you can fit a whole lot in the freezer that way!

  2. OH and totally good new recipe I made from sunset magazine (gluten free and made with mostly canned stuff! whoo!) 1 can of white northern beans drained, 2 cans of tuna drained, mix it together in a bowl with some lemon juice and olive oil and salt and pepper, add chopped up onion if you want. Its GOOD. Oh they served it on slices of tomato, but its good by itself too. (I was thinking maybe you're not supposed to have tuna though because of the mercury? but maybe just not TOO much tuna....or at least you can eat it once nathan's born.)

  3. lol, I was just thinking of doing that! Now you gave me more motivation. :) I love your taco soup recipe and I was trying to think of some good casserole type things too. The tuna thing sounds yummy! I think a little tuna would be fine, so I'm gonna try that one soon. Thanks!

  5. Can you send me the Taco Soup Recipe??!! I am glad that you finished your list, I started another one today, I have not started MAJOR nesting but here and there...I am sure in the next few weeks it will get worse because I feel a little anxious!! YIKES, we are getting there. I am sure you will think of other ways to occupy your time :)

  6. Cindy and anyone else- brown some ground beef or ground turkey (about 1 lb,) drain it, add a chopped up onion, chopped up garlic to taste, a can of corn, can of kidney beans, can of white beans, can of garbanzo beans, can of black beans (all those cans should be drained) and 1 or two cans of diced tomatoes with the juices. Heat through. Done. Its good with sour cream and crumbled chips and cheese on top!

  8. I am so jealous - I never even made a dent on my to-do lists! Maybe I need to get more adventurous and try to get the boys to help me with my projects instead of trying to wait until they are asleep and cut into my sleeping time. Any advice on how to make it work?

  9. Kelly, I just let Lucas "help" me with my projects. It always ends up taking like four times longer than it should, but it eventually gets done. He likes to help me organize cupboards, do laundry, sweep, and mop, and he loves helping set up things in Nathan's room. We just do maybe a half hour at a time. I think it would be way more difficult with two kids though! Good Luck!

Jenny, thanks for the recipe again!

Cindy, watch out cause the nesting WILL kick in soon!

Renee, I can't wait for October, for TWO reasons! Can't wait to see you on saturday!
